Burton Snowboards is a sports product manufacturer with 950 global employees and is the second largest snowboard manufacturer in the US. Burton is a category leader and has grown its online and traditional retail presence significantly in recent years.
As part of its digital transformation, Burton needed to automate its data pipelines of sales and financial data from over 4000 stores, of which 1500 are in the US.
As part of Burton’s big digital transformation initiative its team of data analysts and data engineers were spread too thin. It took enormous manual effort and time to gather, normalize and present only high-level information from existing data. Burton needed to automate their reporting and data pipelines to accelerate their digital transformation initiative.
They needed to move from a manual data gathering process for POS, store level, inventory and sales reporting which traditionally only provided high-level information, to a deeper and completely automated approach which would enable them to focus on data visualization, building impactful reporting dashboards and gaining deeper insights.
Automation is a highly specialized job that requires the integration of disparate operational data pipelines, the assembly, cleansing and normalization of data and automated delivery of pristine clean data integrated into PowerBI for daily dashboards.
